If you want to see an original, intensely atmospheric and horrifying film and you have a strong constitution for suffering on a new level then the Witch is the film for you. Wrath of God induced Paranoia - check.

Bleak cinematography that captures the mood perfectly - check. Painstaking attention to detail in terms of the period - check - superb acting from everyone - check. Be warned, this isn't a mainstream film out to give you a warm tingly feeling or hold your hand and give you all the answers.

It was made with the sole purpose of disturbing you on every level - which it achieves perfectly. Think of 'The Road,' just with a Witch and without Viggo.
