Review of The Witch (2016) by Solinvicta — 20 May 2016
A haunting period piece and worthwhile slow burn, proving that what we see is seldom as scary as what we don't. It's written so smoothly that you can become immersed in this 17th century world where the threat of witches was real to the townspeople, and the fact that the audience is left in the dark along with them makes for some genuinely scary and disturbing moments.
Great filmmaking and superb storytelling all around.
