Review of The Witch (2016) by Lara D — 29 May 2016
Initially a total letdown because I was clearly expecting something else entirely, but now that I've accepted the movie I watched last night The Witch isn't horrible. Not great, but Ok.
The biggest mistake is that the audience is shown from the beginning that there is, in fact, a witch. And then......nothing. The thrill is gone, nothing is surprising beyond that, except for the ending. Everything in between could've been far more suspenseful if we had been left in the dark a bit.
