Review of The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) by Nina B — 21 Mar 2010
Intense drama about the Irish rebellion against English occupation around the time of WWI. Perhaps the greatest tragedy is the fact that all too much of the violence of the conflict has been Irish on Irish.
The film is well-done all around, though the director seemed a little too squeamish at some points (no blood shown during certain shooting scenes) and the English were depicted in a more gentle light than some believe they should have been.
