Review of The Wind That Shakes the Barley (2006) by Hugh G — 10 Apr 2011
I'd been meaning to watch this for a while now, and glad I finally did. Really haunting portrayal of the Irish troubles (circa 1921 treaty) through the lens of its impact on one family. On the surface it's similar to a movie like Michale Collins, but in reality it's much more complex than just another take on the fight for Irish independence.
To paraphrase a line from the movie, "a strange creature Ireland is, even to itself".
