Review of The Wild One (1953) by Nick C — 02 Oct 2007
Marlon Brando invented the Rebel without a cause. I don't care who wrote the part, Marlon Brando acted it and popularized it. He sold it. James Dean would have been nothing without the influence of Brando.
Its interesting watching a brilliant actor play such and airhead character with such authority and power. He commands your focus. Its not surprising that this movie was so influential in its day. Having said all this the movie was a little dry by todays standards.
I wouldn't recommend watching this if your not into Brando or 50s culture. But if you are this is the grandaddy of the Rebel Without a Cause slogan. The Black Rebel Motorcycle Club kicks ass.
