Review of The Wild Geese (1978) by Matthew J — 21 Jul 2008
To a viewer that doesn't overstand the politics involved in the film then it can appear to like any other run of the mill war film. It goes deeper than that, the scene under the upside down tree is the most powerful in the film.
This one scene gives hope for the future of Southern Africa. Whitty the doctor makes homosexual bashers eat their words with a large side order of humble pie. The final scenes as the DC3 leaves for Rhodesia are the saddest in the film, however there are no tears ;).
