Review of The Wild Bunch (1969) by Jim M — 25 May 2008
Texas, 1913: The West has been settled for over a decade. Only a few bands of outlaws remain, finding themselves hunted wherever they go. "The Wild Bunch" are a group of such outlaws led by Pike and Dutch (William Holden and Ernest Borgnine) beig hunted by a former friend Thornton (Robert Ryan) and a posse of bounty hunters.
After a bank robbery turns into a bloody ambush the Bunch find themselves in Mexico, torn apart by bloody revolution. Here they will come face to face with destiny. Amazing western, gritty and brutal.
Sam Peckinpah created a masterpiece of morality and nihilism. Perfectly cast. In a word cathartic.
