Review of The Wild Bunch (1969) by Cha T — 18 Dec 2008
When this movie came out they asked "Why was this movie made" It is now considered one of the best westerns ever made on par with 'The Magnificent Seven", "Once Upon a Time inthe west", "The Good, Th eBad, and the Ugly", 'High Noon' and 'Shane".
An awesome cast and script, Sam Peckinpah was years ahead of his time capturing the true nature and imagery of violence in th eold west. The ending of this movie is the greatest shoot-em-up in all of western cinema and makes all others that followed pale in comparison.
This movie features several past and present oscar winners along with several great character actors in some of their best roles. (Robert Ryan, Edmond O'Brian, Strother Martin, Dub Taylor, etc) The beginninng features a great shoot-out BUT who can ever forget the image of William Holden, Ernest Borgnine, Warren Oates, and Ben Johnston walking down that dusty Mexican street to their chosen destiny.
Rent the full version of this, do NOT bother to watch on TNT.
