Review of The Wild Bunch (1969) by Kevin M — 15 Nov 2010
A really good movie that I'm not quite sure lives up to its reputation (AFI had it as the 6th greatest Western). An aging group of outlaws tries to make one last score in the early 20th Century west in a place where they no longer fit.
They are something out of another time and in the new "modern" west no longer fit. There are some great action scenes and brutal violence. I think what keeps me from considering it as one of my all time classic Westerns is that none of the characters really becomes iconic to me.
Not that the characters are flat or uninteresting but they don't become larger than life or especially memorable as indivuals.
