Review of The Wild Bunch (1969) by Edward S — 28 Mar 2012
The movie feels much longer and convoluted than it should be. But, the characters are warm and memorable, the backdrop serene, the violence gritty and powerful, and the action scenes are some of the best I've ever seen.
The dramatic shoot-out at the end is one of the most spectacular ever caught on film. If the film used its length more wisely, perhaps devoting more time to its already great characterization in favor of its tedious atmospheric stagnancy (or just cut those scenes altogether,) it would be perfect.
