Review of The Wild Bunch (1969) by Connor S — 14 Apr 2014
When The Wild Bunch was first released, it was a very controversial film due to the amount of violence it contained. However, it is now hailed as one of the greatest westerns of all time. Sam Peckinpah was the Quentin Tarantino of the 60's, and this was his Pulp Fiction.
The story of a bunch of old outlaws may seem like it wouldn't be interesting, or even violent, but Peckinpah managed to create a truly great film. I could go on all day about all the great things with this film, but I will just say this.
The opening and closing shootouts are the best I have ever seen, so even if you don't care about the acting, directing, or how great the script is, you should watch it just for those shootouts.
