Review of The Wild Bunch (1969) by Henrik H — 21 Mar 2010
I just can't understand the reviews this movie is getting all the time, even after 50 years of it's release.
It's just an 'ok' western movie but nothing spectacular. Only the first and the last gunfights in the movie are worth watching, but there's like 2 hours of nothing happening in between. And I mean, nothing. Just a bunch of old farts telling jokes about pussy and dicks and roaming around the wild west. Wow, fucking wild, I have to admit.
Maybe in 1969 this was something spectacular but in 2010 this is just almost 2,5 hours of plain boredom. William Holden is supposed to be charismatic and strong leader, but all I felt was that he's just too old and bored.
If I wanna see a good 60's western, I'm not going to watch this one again. If I wanna see couple of good massacres and skip 2 hours of plain boredom, I'm gonna watch this one.
