God knows Glenn Close deserves an Oscar: Bad luck that among her memorable performances like The Big Chill and Dangerous Liaisons, she was up against the likes of Meryl Streep in Sophie's Choice and Cher in Moonstruck.
But her expressive face is the best thing in this soapy story, about her travails with an egotistic husband and whiny son. Worst are the hints that she's really a great talent herself.
