Review of The Wife (2017) by Justfizz Y — 02 Oct 2018
A tightly corseted world.
I had an overwhelming urge to throw open a hotel window and gasp some fresh cold air during the show. Why? Writers can't all be this tightly wound, passive, arrogant, or anoxic. Do you think Bob Dylan (Nobel Prize in Literature) would care about an inbred Ivy League authors club? But this is my problem, my fault. The world of this movie is a bound collection of characters, by design. This is not a universal statement about writers, just a group of sharp well illustrated issues, personalities, and images. The issues drive the characters in the story to create the movie. The acting is a bonus. Well done. Got any walnuts?
