Review of The Wicker Man (2006) by Ken C — 21 Nov 2010

I know that pretty much everybody hates this movie and it's not hard to see why, but surprisingly it's really not that bad. I mean sure it's pointless and Nic's character acts like a freaking idiot the whole movie and pretty much deserves what he gets for acting so stupid and I don't even think I need to discuss his performance. It's so out of control and silly that it's almost impossible not to laugh at him and whenever he isn't acting so crazy he looks bored and uninterested with the whole movie. But as silly and out of control Nic's acting is I still think that it's a pretty decent performance, whenever he slaps or yells at someone you can see the enjoyment in his eyes and you can feel what he's going through despite how idiotic the character is.

I haven't actually watched the original Wicker Man because I turned it off when the naked girl started singing but from what i've heard the only thing scary about it is the ending and nothing more. If that's the case then that must mean that the remake is actually scarier. I was pretty freaked out watching it with all the men being slaves to women and not being able to talk it's freaking scary man. It's like Stepford Wives but in reverse. I don't really think theres any point in me watching the original now that I know what the shocking ending is and I really don't have any interest in watching it anyway if the ending is the only scary part of the whole movie and...it's a musical!

So basically this movie wasn't all that bad, it wasn't great and Nic's performance is probably the only thing memorable about it, but it's still pretty scary and worth a couple laughs.
