Review of The Wicker Man (2006) by Sol H — 30 Jan 2011
Fucking dire and on every level. The writing, the editing, the choice of locations, the lighting and good God, the acting. I adore Nic Cage, but even he turns out a hideous performance here (the only truly bad performance of his that I've seen to date, too) and when you consider how incredible the film that this is based on, it's just like salt in the wound.
However, it's incredibly hilarious, so there's a lot of enjoyment to be found. "You bitches, killing me won't bring back your God-damned honey" is probably my favourite movie-quote of all time.
Personal enjoyment: 7/10 (because it's hilarious).
Actual quality: 2/10.
