Review of The Wicker Man (2006) by Sam G — 06 Dec 2013
Best known as one of the worst remakes of all time, Neil LaBute's tragic creepy-island tragedy is, in a word: devastating. If Robin Hardy's 1973 film was a paragon of mystery and suspense, LaBute's take is a testament to what not to do when making a movie, suffering from direlogue overload, some of the shoddiest scriptwork known to man, painful performances and a truly astounding number of continuity flops.
Fortunately, those with a hunger for bad taste will be happy to know that a solid 60% of the movie involves Nicolas Cage running through woods, punching women and wailing about how much he hates bees.
