Review of The Wicker Man (1973) by Kyle L — 18 Feb 2011
This is not the first time I've seen a movie about a pagan cult doing sacrifices towards people. I heard about this film because I remember watching the Nicolas Cage version when I heard that the Nicolas Cage version was a remake I decided to check this one out and what I have to say is that the original Wicker Man is one of the most suspenceful films ever made I actually didn't like the remake so far because I saw the trailer of the Wicker Man remake and I decided to watch it because from the trailer it looks nice and when I saw it in the theater I was really disappointed for one reason.
Since the remake was disappointing this version is at least slightly better than the remake. The original Wicker Man has lots of intense moments and filled with lots of twist and scares than the disappointing remake.
While the plot is interesting and the same to the remake. The original Wicker Man is much more interesting than the remake because this film is filled with lots of creepines, scares, tension, suspense and even some unsettling images that will scare audiences.
Director Robin Hardy has done a better job on capturing suspense and terror towards the screen that will scare audiences around the world. Robin Hardy is a very talented director he knows how to make suspense and tension in this film.
Not only Robin Hardy's directing is spectacular and visually intense the acting is also good Edward Woodward has done a better job with his acting than Nicolas Cage in the remake and the rest of the cast did a good job as well.
This is a good horror film for horror fans because the film itself is unsettling, unnerving, disturbing and the film itself is also intense and suspenceful oh and it's also filled with lots of twists and scares.
I would give this film a 10/10 because the movie itself is unsetling, unnerving, disturbing and it is also suspenceful and director Robin Hardy did a good job with the original Wicker Man. I also heard that Robin Hardy will be directing a sequel to the Wicker Man and it is going to be released in 2011 and it is also based on his novel Cowboys for Christ but the actual title of the film is The Wicker Tree.
