Review of The Wicker Man (1973) by Jonathan B — 02 Dec 2010
The first half was pretty bad. The story took a while before it got interesting, and there were a couple of strange musical numbers that confused and annoyed me. The second half is where the tension finally kicked in and things started to get good.
Do not go see this if you want a scary movie, since there really is not anything to scare you until maybe the last twenty minutes, although there is some creepy stuff that will make some people squirm a little.
The ending had been spoiled for me a long time ago, but I still thought it was really great and helped to make up for the first half of the film. The main character was very interesting, but you do not really find out much about him.
Worth watching if you want something for Halloween that is not going to give you nightmares.
