Review of The Wicker Man (1973) by Jesse K — 18 Aug 2013
The Wicker Man shocked me much more than I expected. But it also intrigued me. The film mixes musical numbers, bright scenery and weird characters with a brooding mystery that got me hooked. All of these things work so perfectly because they don't set you up for the ending.
..and oh what an ending it is. I must say that one of the famous shots in The Wicker Man was one of the most horrifying things I have seen in a movie. I won't spoil anything but it is terribly chilling.
Eerie film, excellent soundtrack and a final blow to really send shivers down your spine.
