Review of The Wicker Man (1973) by Josh H — 09 Dec 2009
Its a cult classic because it deserves to be it is brillantly shot and so unlike anything else that was out at the time (or out since really) that it automatically gets points in originality which is so rare even then. With an amazing cast including the beautiful Ekland, along with such genre stars like Lee and Pitt, finally throw in someone like Woodward, and how can you go wrong.
Its a shame that some of the film has been lost would love to see a full uncut copy because what I do see is brillant, it has so many "what was that" moments that you keep looking for the next scene to see what else they could possibly do to shock you. Plus it has an underlining creepy feel throughout that turns it from an art house type flick to more of a thriller/horror movie which is a nice turn. Just a fantastic film that should have never been remade and should get more exposure then what it does.
