Review of The White Stripes: Under Great White Northern Lights (2009) by Ben F — 23 Apr 2010
I have always been a fan of the White Stripes but this movie actually made me like them a lot more. With fantastic direction, and interviews, as well as great cinematography, this film is definitely worth the view.
Actually, when I first started watching the movie, I thought it was going to be a documentary on the band's history. It turns out that the movie is just filming there tour of canada, with a couple of interviews here and there.
What made the movie so good was it's cinematography. The film is primarily shot in black and white, and during some performances, this really makes the film have a high artistic value, which the band actually has.
The performances that are captured on film here, are also very good. Jack White and Meg White do a really good job, and it's really fun to see them kick ass on stage, and then come off and talk about it. Really interesting.
The film actually went by pretty quick, and there really isn't much to say about it. I guess the best thing I can say is that it was very very entertaining. It wasn't really a history of the band, so if that's what you were looking for, find another film. If you just want to see the band kick some ass, with awesome artistic cinematography, then check it out, because you'll like it...I certainly did.
