I thought this was quite an endearing movie - its a good piece of nostalgia for the mid 1980s, certainly musically for one. Robbie (the singer) is a very likeable character - his emotions coming through his performances. The story is somewhat obvious but then it is a 'rom com', so in a sense thats to be expected. There's nothing particularly remarkable about it but its quite entertaining and there are one or two standout scenes, such as when Robbie sings "Kill Me Please" very emotionally during rehearsals. You can't help but feel sorry for both Robbie, who doesn't seem to realise that who he should really be with is (as is so often the case) almost right in front of his nose and Julia, who clearly has feelings for Robbie but can't see any reciprocation.

Yes its hardly a new format but there is a nice smattering of comedy in the dialogue, the music/soundtrack is fun/nostalgic and the characters are quite likeable for lack of another term. I'd say that Sandler outshines Barrymore in this movie - she is a bit more nonchalant I suppose.

This is a fairly basic movie but it has alot of 'warmth' to it and thats what, most likely, accounts for its popularity. Its easy to watch, its nostalgic and has a nice amount of comedy, you should get at least a few chortles out of this (what a word - I know lol). I'm struggling to think of anything else to add to be honest - its pretty basic but its good for what it is, as a romantic comedy its interesting to concentrate on a character such as Robbie, with his occupation someone like him would be easily overlooked most of the time - who would take the time to wonder what a wedding singers own life and relationships are like? so in that sense it has a slightly different and interesting plot I suppose.

Yes I'd recommend this movie, as its quite entertaining with a good main character and some funny dialog and if your from the 1980s then you should certainly find it quite nostalgic.
