Review of The Weather Man (2005) by Jason — 13 Jun 2009
I remember being really hyped to see this when I saw the trailers, mainly because I always wanted to be a meteorologist. After seeing it, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. It's ok, and Cage is one of my favorite actors, but I thought this would be a lot more of a comedy than it was.
Instead, it's a depress fest. It's basically about a man who's been overly blessed career wise, but not so much when it comes to his ex-wife and teen kids who are depressed. Great acting by Cage and Caine, but you never really get the sense that Cage fixed anything with his family, even after the move, which can depress the viewer by not giving them the ending they want to see.
...but that's more realistic than most movies try to be.
