Review of The Weather Man (2005) by Dancy P — 30 Aug 2008
The Weather Man. AKA - what Gore Verbinski did in the middle of his multi-billion dollar Pirates franchise. This is a bleak film, the Chicago winter colour palate is a reflection of Nicholas Cage's downtrodden weather man's psyche.
As with all Verbinski films, the cinematography is slick and stylised. Although there is little narrative drive, the quirky dialogue and characters are strangely appealing. It won't be to everyone's taste, but The Weatherman is a minor triumph.
Fan's of Nicolas Cage, Verbinski or Michael Caine can't really go wrong.
