Review of The Weather Man (2005) by Meagan D — 24 Aug 2010
A very strange film about finding one's place in life. The titular character is pushed around by the world (through his ex-wife, his viewers' hatred toward him, and his own inadequate feelings of not having lived up to his father's legacy or even being qualified to predict weather patterns.
) He is, as the movie's analogy goes, pushed around at the whim of the wind. That is, until he starts to see himself for who he is instead of who he isn't. I think the film did a very fine job of illustrating the need to see life this way.
In the (strange) cast, Hope Davis stuck out to me with her performance as Nicolas Cage's ex-wife. Everyone else was fine, but a bit odd at times, too. Perhaps that's just the quality of this film.
