Review of The Wayward Cloud (2005) by Lau T — 24 Aug 2007
Disappointing. Is this the summum of Arthouse? I'd hope not. Cliche from beginning to end: hardboiled contrasts in silence and poppy shmuck musicalism, 80% of the spaces are places of transition (corridors, stairways, ...), blend in of antagonistic film genres, still shots, urban worship, ... , name it, it's all there.
Luckily there's quite good acting, especially on the girl's part, and often the stills are exquisite visual compositions.
There's more and better outside. This is just a kitch attempt within the Arthouse genre, nothing more.
