Review of The Way Way Back (2013) by Jakki J — 29 Mar 2014
Great movie about a boy coming into his own during a summer vacation with the family. There is a lot here about how important it is for young boys to have a good mentor in their lives. This is a vulnerable time in their lives and can affect the kind of person they grow up to be for good or bad.
I think most people will find a character they relate to, it's just very realistic and down to earth. I especially found Sam Rockwell to be entirely lovable. I truly enjoyed the film and it will certainly become part of my annual Summer viewing.
If you like a well written indie flick, I highly recommend it!
