Review of The Way (2010) by Cristian B — 18 Oct 2011
A moving and deeply personal movie. Director Estevez never pushes hard on the emotions and allows the story and characters breath. What results are characters we come to care for. Though we may see the destination ahead in the story, Estevez is able to give the journey a subtle emotional effect.
All of this would not work as much, if it weren't for Sheen's committed and touching performance in the lead. He brings a tough honesty to the role and gives the movie its aching heart. He does some of his finest work.
This father and son team have a delivered a movie that sneaks up on you, in its emotional resonance.
