Review of The Waterboy (1998) by Graeme H — 10 Mar 2011
This was a typical Sandler film; little substance, a few funny moments, a lot of bad acting. Sandler's Creole/Bayou accent was atrocious. Every speech therapist dies a little every time they hear Bobby Boucher talk.
What I do not understand is why would a serious actress like Kathy Bates every take a role in a film like this? Did she lose a bet? I love football but this film did more to destroy football than Roger Goodell.
The only real funny part of the film is when Lawrence Taylor tells the kids at his football camp to not smoke crack. If only he followed his own advice.
