Review of The Waterboy (1998) by Wesley W — 10 Aug 2013

"The Waterboy" is just your typical Adam Sandler flick. Promoted as a comedy, this movie isn't funny, but is enjoyable. I can't hate The Waterboy since it is entertaining, but I do have many problems with it.

I laughed about three or four times throughout the duration of this movie. This is categorized as a comedy, and I expected to laugh a lot more than I did. This movie just feels like a poor excuse to make Sandler look cool, get the girls and be loved by everyone. I don't like his character though. Bobby Boucher is who he plays, and his voice is incredibly annoying. Sandler thinks his voices are funny, but they just plain and simply aren't. Rob Schneider is in this movie and he's annoying as well. I wish they had Steve Buscemi instead.

The Waterboy does have a lot of immature humor, some funny jokes, and a good story (kinda). I did like the setting of Louisiana, and the music that goes along with it works well. It's good enough to warrant one viewing, but like most of these Sandler comedies they have no replay value whatsoever.
