Review of The Water Diviner (2014) by Ryan M — 25 Aug 2015
The Water Diviner is a one fatherâ(TM)s tale on a search for his known to be lost son, as he is involved in a tragic battle during World War I. Russell Crowe stars and directs, making it his directorial debut.
I have to say, it has a well tone showing the landscape of Australia and Turkey. The historical drama film is a fair movie, only if the script was more invested in making these characters a little more inspirational to keep the audience interested.
A directors first time handling a movie, has those moments of trying everything for the first time, the action and battle sequence was decent. It did not add much of thrills or intensity to it. At certain moments, Josh (Russell Crowe) three sons, who are in the military were hard to distinguish on what they were fighting during a battle scene.
It does have a good cast talent from Russell Crowe, Olga Kurylenko, and Jai Courtney. The Water Diviner does have some dull moments, at an overall view it was an okay film.
