Review of The Warriors (1979) by Gavin D — 04 Dec 2011
Made during the late seventies 'The Warriors' is clearly a product of its time. Set in the darkest parts of New York, it is an interesting look at gang violence. Director Walter Hill introduces us to a bizarre world of young criminals who don't care about anything but their gangs.
The film is beautifully shot making the city itself into a character. As for flesh and blood ones, they're all terrific. Every actor manages to give their character a distinct personality. They're all interesting enough to allow you to get passed their street thug exterior and root for them.
