Review of The Warriors (1979) by Matan S — 21 Aug 2015
Cult-classic, that while has aged a bit, holds up fairly well. The cast is solid but not extraordinary and helps that there are no recognizable faces in the cast, giving a more naturalistic feel to the movie.
Granted, the movie crafted by Walter Hill is a cartoonish depiction of gangs (as cool as the Baseball Furies are, they are sadly what gangs ever were). However, as a modern day adaption of the classic Greek story, "Anabasis", it's a fun movie from beginning to end, with plenty of iconic scenes, from Cyrus's opening speech ("Can you dig it?") to the final confrontation ("Warriors, come out & play!!!).
While dated, a classic nevertheless.
