John Carpenter's first film in nearly ten years has arrived and it's really well done.

The filmmaking break did Carpenter well (although, I'm a fan of his last film, "The Ghosts Of Mars"). He returns with a stylish and well polished film.

The weird thing is that it doesn't look or feel like a John Carpenter film at all. That's not saying anything bad about it though. It's still a pretty decent film.

The cast is excellent and all do a great job. Amber Heard is the stand out. I think that she's getting better with each role. And Mamie Gummer (Meryl Streep's daughter) is quite impressive as well. And the lovely Danielle Panabaker works her magic during her scenes.

The production is top notch and the film is shot beautifully.

The make-up and effects are provided by KNB and look great. While not a gore fest by any means, the scenes that are meant to scare and shock you work very well.

I recommend this film without any doubts that you will enjoy it. I'm glad to see John Carpenter return to making films. I hope he sticks around for a long time.
