Review of The War of the Worlds (1953) by Dober Man — 06 Aug 2008
The 1950s spawned many sci-fi movies. Most of them were hokie even then. This movie was way ahead of its time in both special effects and plot development. No, the special effects can't hold a candle to today's CGI effects, but but they did hold up for decades.
The movie does not hold very true to the H.G. Wells story, but it does maintain the spirit of Wells.
