George Pal was the 1950's what George Lucas was to the 1970's and early 80's. Visionary. The sound design for the Martian War Machine is splendid. Something that nightmares are made of. A sound you will NEVER forget.
Great human characters that you really care about. Overall, without giving too much away, this is my favorite Sci Fi movie from the 1950's.
