Review of The War of the Worlds (1953) by Raynormanbateman . — 10 Oct 2009

I usually defend original classics against modern remakes that are based on CGI and action. In this case, I can't. I do love this film and it definitely has something more eery about it than the remake BUT it feels outdated and lets face it, some films do need a bit of action and CGI. I am one of the few that actually really enjoyed the remake. Fair enough it had it's flaws but it was a fun sci-fi film with great action.

This film, unlike the original The Day the Earth Stood Still, seemed like it's lacking something. I ma sure at the time of its release it might have been massive but I don't see it as influential as the day the earth stood still or other sci-fi classics. Maybe it's just me though.
