Review of The Walk (2015) by A.d. O — 16 Jan 2016
So when Flight turn out to be a surprise for me and the critics who think that it's a return to form for Robert Zemeckis in terms of making a live-action movie, I was excited to see his next film The Walk, and that surprisingly better than Flight.
The pacing is really fast which made this 2 hour film feel like a 70 minute one which is actually find by me if the movie does well with it, which it did thanks to the script by Robert Zemeckis and Christopher Browne.
I seen the documentary Man on Wire, and when watching the movie, it felt like I was watching the documentary itself which for me, it means that they did a great job of reenacting it, while also giving some information that I don't think that I've seen in Man on Wire.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt did a fantastic job of sounding like Philippe Petit, and the wire walking that he has done is very impressive, which Philippe himself actually trained Levitt himself which he got it down in 8 days.
The romance between the main character is good, and we get to know more about Philippe and Annie. There's a lot of funny moments, and the wire walking scenes are very intense that I was a bit on the edge of the seat.
The visual effects are really good, especially the Twin Towers which it looks like they're actually there. People were bothered by the first half of the movie either by the fact that they were bored, or that it's not as good as the second half, and while I somewhat agree that it's not as good as the second half, it didn't felt boring to me as the direction is good and I was interested in where it was going thanks to the fast pacing and some good character development.
The Walk is an amazing film that I wished that I could've watched it in IMAX as it would've been worth it for that one.
