Review of The Wages of Fear (1953) by Loren G — 19 Mar 2008
The Southern Oil Company (SOC) has a problem, one of their oil derricks is on fire, and the nitro-glycerin needed to put it out is 300 miles away, 300 miles of unpaved, pothole filed roads, and to make matters worse, the only available trucks have no safety equipment to make the trip any safer.
Who will drive the trucks, no union driver thats for sure. un-proven men, locals from a town, so poor, that it might as well be a prison.
When the trucks start to move at about 60 minutes into the movie one thing is clear, that least 2 of the characters are going to die. But which ones? Wages Of Fear is probably the most suspenseful non-Hitchcock movie I've ever seen.
