Review of The Wackness (2008) by Aj S — 05 Feb 2009
A very good film, not at all what I was hoping for, but I still liked it alot. It's a rare coming of age story, many aren't done very well because you don't really believe the actors performance, but in this one you do. It's a true 90's period piece full of the nostalgia that is the 90's. The soundtrack for the film works, because it to play's a character in the movie. Josh Peck is absolutely amazing in this role, he's deffinitly changed as an actor. His on screen chemistry with Ben Kingsly and Olivia Thirlby is just right for this movie. Shot beautifully and terrific direction by Jonathan Levine, who claims this movie to be a look into his life of that time.
~OSCAR NOTE~.
I feel the movie was snubbed from this years. Most certainly for cinematography and Best Supporting Actor Ben Kingsly. It had the potential to be an award favorite, if it was released during the heavy duty award season. But, it is what it is. Great movie, I liked it a lot.
