Review of The Wackness (2008) by Kenny M — 16 Jun 2009
Quite possibly the most crushingly real, down-to-earth movie I've ever seen. The characters deliver a certain volatility and unpredictability that carries the plot along excellently. The acting was good on all fronts, and Peck, while generally not a good actor, delivers a good performance and fits the role perfectly.
In particular, Ben Kingsley, Olivia Thirlby, and Mary-Kate Olsen delivered outstanding performances. What really drives this film home, however, is the direction. Every aspect of The Wackness is perfected, which is why it is able to create the powerful dichotomy of such a volatile plot with unpredictable characters while still feeling grounded in a cynical reality.
Absolutely reccomend this film to anyone ready for it.
