Review of The Wackness (2008) by Kei T — 23 Jul 2009
This indie pic does a great job of taking a snapshot of a summer in Luke's life; finding the humor, the love, the pain, and agony of an 80s high school graduate's drug dealing days and nights. Josh Peck has certainly graduated from his Nickelodeon routes, jumped passed Nick at Night, and right into adult acting.
I hope we see more of him in the future. Ben Kingsley, as always, takes his character and immerses himself in the role, this time as a defunct psychiatrist that has lost all semblance of ethical practice.
The richness of this story made the 99 minutes feel much longer that its actual time frame, but in a good way. The direction was so wonderful, that it really feels like I experienced this three month journey with Luke.
