Review of The Voices (2014) by Bogkid — 13 Apr 2015
One of the best movies I have seen this year. Ryan Reynolds and his pets do a great job of illustrating serious mental illness, both on and off of mind-numbing medications. Pay attention to to Jerry's room when he goes back on his medication and his psychotic view of the world smooths out. Extremely clever.
Don't let the "talking animals" in the promotional materials for the movie fool you. Despite comedic elements, this movie is not really a comedy. I cannot say I have been a fan or follower of Ryan Reynolds in the past. After seeing his performance in "The Voices", I will definitely be watching out for future performances. (I could have done without the Busby Berkley end titles.
