Review of The Voices (2014) by David S — 21 Apr 2015
Not the most entertaining film, but enough so to mildly distract you of the usual fare. The grisy horrors of both past and present entangled within a comedy of sorts about the importance of continued prescription drug use to keep sane, this movie tries to adapt the good conscience vs.
bad in the form of his pooch (the archetypical "Angel" role) and kitty cat (the "devil" of sorts) battling to convince Ryan Reynolds to act accordingly. Things don't set up very well, they just occur.
Throughout the film you learn about Jerry's (Reynolds) past, and these are rather scary, and slowly learn about his need for meds. The humor kind of took away from the strength of this movie though.
It just wasn't all that funny. It was alright, but there are better flicks out there.
