Review of The Voices (2014) by Prentice S — 25 Sep 2015
"The Voices" will become the first of many smart choices for Ryan Reynolds. We all know that "Deadpool" is going to be great, but I have high hopes for "Mississippi Grind" too- the two together show that Reynolds is starting to make smart choices.
"The Voices" isn't amazing, but it's solid: Reynolds is perfect as the disturbed and psychotic Jerry, whose best friends appear to be his dog Bosco and his devilish cat, Mr. Whiskers.
Oh...and they talk to him- hence, "The Voices." Mr. Whiskers is quite evil: he convinces Jerry to begin killing women, which Jerry begins to do at a frightening pace. Anna Kendrick has a nice turn as one of those poor women, giving Reynolds a good co-star to bounce off of.
It's certainly not an award winner, but it's definitely gotten me thinking about Reynolds's bright future in Hollywood.
