Review of The Visit (2015) by Jayakrishnan R — 16 Dec 2015
A step up for Shyamalan since after earth and the last airbender, but that's not saying much at all. The director's intention might have well been that of making a sometimes funny, absurd dark comedy-horror kind of flick, but the fact remains that we find ourselves infront of a painfully slow, boring, narratively barebone chore of a film.
There are occasionally some interesting scenes, some funny, others suspenseful, but these few segments are overshadowed by the usual defects of these modern day handheld camera "horrors". While the elderly actors did a good job, the main protagonist might just be the most annoying kid in cinematic history.
Completely avoidable, and definetly not worth the shoehorned anti-climactic shyamalan-style ending.
