Review of The Visit (2015) by Scottie T — 19 Oct 2015
The Visit! The Visit is directed by M Night Shyamalan and was a good comeback for him and hopefully he can start making good films again. Anyways, The Visit was trying to be funny, scary, and emotional.
I enjoyed it, but I didn't find it to be any one of those things, I just found it a little creepy, and it was filled with good performances, especially the grandmother, she did an excellent job and in my opinion stole the show, but the humor wasnt funny, and made the tone shift from it's eerie atmosphere and made it a joke in scenes and I hated that.
Also, I know it is a found footage film, but it is well shot and I really enjoyed the camera work, it wasnt always nice but when the camera wasnt shaking, it looked really nice, especially the still frames.
So, in the end, I came out of the visit happy with the film, but the films issues was tone, and some of the writing but when it was creepy, it was creepy and thats what I like to see. hopefully Shyamalan can make something a little better next time, but I was still impressed with the visit and I do reccomend you see it, if you havent already.
Oh, and if you were wondering about the twist... it was good.
