I had the lowest standards that can be had for a horror film watching 'The Visit'- that is - to be frightened and thrilled, and the film came as a disappointment. The atmosphere, crucial in any horror film (and in any film I guess) just did not convince me to be any good and the film was more of a vector of boredom than anything else.
